History goes that from pre-colombian times these springs have been a place of rituals and pilgrimage. From 1847 to 1958 existed in Baños de Coamo a luxurious center for relaxation and a Hotel where many Puerto Ricans as well as visitors from abroad enjoyed pleasant stays, some on their honeymoon, others on pleasure visits with their families, and many in search of the therapeutic effect of hot springs that gave the place international fame.
