Belmopan, the 'Garden City' and capital of Belize is a beautiful, spaciously laid out and tranquil town.
Belmopan sits near the the junction of the Western Highway, which leads from Belize City to San Ignacio (22 miles) and the Guatemalan border, with the Hummingbird Highway, the scenic road which runs from Belmopan south-east to Dangriga (47 miles) on the Caribbean coast.

Punta Gorda Town is located on the west coast of the Caribbean Sea in Southern Belize. It is geographically part of the Gulf of Honduras. The town is the administrative capital of the Toledo District.
Punta Gorda is the gateway to the attractions that abound in the Toledo district. From off-shore fishing, to river trips to caving, birding and Maya Archaeological sites - the Toledo district and Punta Gorda offer everything a visitor to Belize will expect to find. They were led from Riversdale up and down the peninsula for years by Emmanuel "Walpy" Moreira until they finally settled where Seine Bight is NOW. Two other groups followed: John Martinez who settled in the southern area called Santuario, and Mateo Augustine who settled in the northern division called Augustine Ville. Many more came to the village in the 1950's when the Blair Atoll operation, which produced rice & copra, was closed down.
It is one of six Garifuna communities in Belize. Bight is a depression in the coastline. Scottish pirates were the first to call this area "Seine Bight".
