Lake Chapala Society Website : Refer : Review It
e present administration (2004-2005), under Charlie Smith, is working to enhance the infrastructure of the society with updates in the way business is conducted, improvements to the grounds and buildings, and centralizing the services to members and the community. This administration is calling in some of the best advisers in the area for consultations; however, the democratic nature of the society continues to function under this administration. Scheduled General Meetings determine (by voting) which actions will be taken for the betterment of the Society. As the Lake Chapala Society continues to grow, it serves as one of the most important organizations for expatriate retirees in the Lakeside area and in all of Mexico. Its many services, only some of which are described here, make life much easier and more pleasant for those expatriates and their Mexican neighbors.

The MEXPAT: A Brief Description Two years ago, the now well-known MEXPAT social gathering in Mexico City was started by Ian Jarvie to meet new people. For a year and a half, the gathering was simply called "the expat" and held at only one restaurant. However, after many beers the "marketing team" came up with the "MEXPAT" in an effort to reflect what is really cool about the event, that it consists of people from all over the world who have Mexico in common. With many loyal event goers, the MEXPAT now not only meets in the Polanco area of Mexico City, but also in the Roma/Condesa and in the cities of Monterrey and Cuernavaca.
